  • Author: Dottie
  • Total Time: 80 minutes
  • Yield: 6 cups 1x

Description

This Strawberry Limeade is a refreshing drink that combines sweet strawberries with zesty lime, making it perfect for hot days. Ideal for gatherings or a relaxing day at home, it features a vibrant color and delicious flavor that will keep you cool and satisfied.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (about 68 limes)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 4 cups cold water
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
  • Extra lime slices for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash the strawberries thoroughly under cold water and remove any dirt or debris.
  2. Hull the strawberries by removing the green tops and slicing them in half.
  3. Place the sliced strawberries in a blender. Optionally, add a couple of tablespoons of sugar for sweetness.
  4. Blend on high speed until smooth, about 30 seconds to 1 minute. For a chunkier texture, blend for a shorter time.
  5. Pour the strawberry puree through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl or pitcher to remove seeds and pulp. Use a spatula to press the puree through the strainer. Set aside.
  6. In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lime juice and granulated sugar. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  7. Add the cold water to the lime juice mixture and stir well. Taste and adjust sweetness with more sugar if desired.
  8. Pour the strawberry puree into the pitcher with the limeade and stir gently to mix, creating a marbled effect. Adjust the amount of strawberry puree to your taste.
  9. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to meld and chill.
  10. Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the strawberry limeade over the ice, filling each glass about three-quarters full.
  11. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and a slice of lime if desired.

Notes

  • For a fizzy version, top each glass with sparkling water or club soda just before serving.
  • Feel free to experiment with other fruits like raspberries or blueberries for a mixed berry limeade.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Stir before serving.
