Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (about 6–8 limes)
- 1 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 4 cups cold water
- Ice cubes
- Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
- Extra lime slices for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Wash the strawberries thoroughly under cold water and remove any dirt or debris.
- Hull the strawberries by removing the green tops and slicing them in half.
- Place the sliced strawberries in a blender. Optionally, add a couple of tablespoons of sugar for sweetness.
- Blend on high speed until smooth, about 30 seconds to 1 minute. For a chunkier texture, blend for a shorter time.
- Pour the strawberry puree through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl or pitcher to remove seeds and pulp. Use a spatula to press the puree through the strainer. Set aside.
- In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lime juice and granulated sugar. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Add the cold water to the lime juice mixture and stir well. Taste and adjust sweetness with more sugar if desired.
- Pour the strawberry puree into the pitcher with the limeade and stir gently to mix, creating a marbled effect. Adjust the amount of strawberry puree to your taste.
- Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to meld and chill.
- Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the strawberry limeade over the ice, filling each glass about three-quarters full.
- Garnish with fresh mint leaves and a slice of lime if desired.
Notes
- For a fizzy version, top each glass with sparkling water or club soda just before serving.
- Feel free to experiment with other fruits like raspberries or blueberries for a mixed berry limeade.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Stir before serving.
