Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large russet potatoes
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Optional: grated Parmesan cheese (for serving)
Instructions
- Wash the russet potatoes thoroughly under cold running water. Peel the potatoes using a vegetable peeler. (Optional: leave the skin on for skin-on fries.)
- Cut each potato in half lengthwise, then cut each half into 3-4 wedges for uniform sizes.
- Soak the potato wedges in a large bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. For best results, soak for a few hours or overnight.
- Drain the potato wedges and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a small bowl, combine garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- In a large mixing bowl, add the dried potato wedges. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle the seasoning mix. Toss until evenly coated.
- Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- Spread the seasoned potato wedges in a single layer on the baking sheet, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. Flip the wedges halfway through for even cooking.
- After 25-30 minutes, check for golden brown and crispy texture. If needed, bake for an additional 5-10 minutes.
- Let the fries cool for a couple of minutes, then sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley.
- Add grated Parmesan cheese while the fries are still hot for a savory topping.
- Transfer to a serving platter or individual plates. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauces.
Notes
- For best results, choose high-starch russet potatoes.
