  • Author: Dottie
  • Total Time: 60 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

These crispy baked steak fries are a delicious and healthier alternative to traditional fries, featuring golden-brown potato wedges seasoned with garlic, onion, and smoked paprika. Perfect as a side dish or snack, they are easy to make and sure to impress at any meal!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Optional: grated Parmesan cheese (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Wash the russet potatoes thoroughly under cold running water. Peel the potatoes using a vegetable peeler. (Optional: leave the skin on for skin-on fries.)
  2. Cut each potato in half lengthwise, then cut each half into 3-4 wedges for uniform sizes.
  3. Soak the potato wedges in a large bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. For best results, soak for a few hours or overnight.
  4. Drain the potato wedges and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
  5. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  6. In a small bowl, combine garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  7. In a large mixing bowl, add the dried potato wedges. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle the seasoning mix. Toss until evenly coated.
  8. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  9. Spread the seasoned potato wedges in a single layer on the baking sheet, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. Flip the wedges halfway through for even cooking.
  11. After 25-30 minutes, check for golden brown and crispy texture. If needed, bake for an additional 5-10 minutes.
  12. Let the fries cool for a couple of minutes, then sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley.
  13. Add grated Parmesan cheese while the fries are still hot for a savory topping.
  14. Transfer to a serving platter or individual plates. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes
