  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 1 cocktail 1x

Description

The Star Gazer Wine Cocktail is a delightful blend of gin, elderflower liqueur, fresh lemon juice, and sparkling wine, garnished with mint and optional edible flowers. Perfect for celebrations or a cozy evening, this refreshing drink offers a touch of elegance and a burst of flavor in every sip.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ oz gin
  • 1 oz elderflower liqueur
  • ½ oz fresh lemon juice
  • 3 oz sparkling wine (like Prosecco or Champagne)
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish
  • Edible flowers for garnish (optional)
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. In a cocktail shaker, combine the gin, elderflower liqueur, and fresh lemon juice.
  2. Add a handful of ice cubes to the shaker.
  3. Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds.
  4. Once shaken, strain the mixture into a chilled cocktail glass.
  5. Slowly pour the sparkling wine into the glass over the gin mixture.
  6. Give the cocktail a gentle stir with a bar spoon to combine the ingredients without losing too much fizz.
  7. Take a few fresh mint leaves and gently slap them between your hands to release their oils.
  8. Place the mint leaves on top of the cocktail. Add edible flowers if using.
  9. Optionally, add a lemon twist by cutting a thin strip of lemon peel, twisting it over the drink, and dropping it in.
  10. Serve the cocktail immediately while it’s still cold and bubbly.
  11. Enjoy the beautiful colors and aromas as you sip.
  12. For gatherings, consider making a batch in a pitcher by multiplying the ingredients.

Notes

  • Use high-quality gin and elderflower liqueur for the best flavor.
  • Chill your glasses in the freezer for a few minutes before serving.
  • Experiment with different sparkling wines for a unique twist.
  • For a sweeter cocktail, add a splash of simple syrup before shaking.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, replace gin and elderflower liqueur with elderflower syrup and sparkling water.
