Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 4 large flour tortillas
- 1 head romaine lettuce, washed and chopped
- 1 cup Caesar dressing (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup croutons, crushed
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
Instructions
- Marinate the Shrimp: In a medium bowl, combine the peeled and deveined shrimp with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Toss to coat. Let sit for 10-15 minutes (optional).
- Cook the Shrimp: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add shrimp in a single layer (cook in batches if needed).
- Cook Time: Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until pink and opaque. Do not overcook.
- Lemon Juice Finish: Remove from heat and squeeze lemon juice over the shrimp. Toss to coat.
- Set Aside: Transfer shrimp to a plate to cool slightly.
- Prepare Lettuce: Wash and chop romaine lettuce. Dry thoroughly.
- Grate Parmesan: Grate Parmesan cheese (if using a block).
- Crush Croutons: Crush croutons in a bag using a rolling pin or pulse in a food processor.
- (Optional) Warm Tortillas: Warm tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave for a few seconds per side.
- Layer Lettuce: Lay a tortilla flat and spread a layer of chopped romaine lettuce over the center.
- Add Shrimp: Arrange a portion of the cooked shrimp over the lettuce.
- Drizzle Dressing: Drizzle Caesar dressing over the shrimp and lettuce.
- Sprinkle Cheese: Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the dressing.
- Add Croutons: Sprinkle crushed croutons over the Parmesan cheese.
- Wrap it Up: Fold in the sides of the tortilla, then fold up the bottom edge tightly over the filling. Roll the wrap up tightly, like a burrito.
- Secure the Wrap (Optional): If you want to secure the wrap, you can insert a toothpick through the center. This will help prevent it from unraveling.
- Repeat: Repeat steps 2-8 with the remaining tortillas and ingredients.
- Serve Immediately: Serve the Shrimp Caesar Wraps immediately. They’re best enjoyed fresh, while the tortillas are still soft and the lettuce is crisp.
Notes
- Variations: Add sliced avocado, bacon bits, different greens (spinach, kale), diced tomatoes, cayenne pepper, hot sauce, grill the tortillas, use different cheese (Asiago, Romano, feta), substitute shrimp with grilled halloumi or roasted chickpeas (vegetarian), use lettuce leaves instead of tortillas (low-carb).
- Serving Suggestions: Serve with a side salad, fruit salad, potato salad, coleslaw, sweet potato fries, or soup.
- Storage: Store leftover wraps in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Wrap filling separately from tortillas to prevent sogginess.
