Description

This Sangria Granita is a refreshing frozen dessert made with fruity red wine, fresh citrus juices, and mixed fruits, perfect for warm days and festive occasions. Enjoy a delightful, icy treat that’s easy to prepare and sure to impress!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups red wine
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup simple syrup
  • 1/4 cup brandy
  • 1 cup mixed fresh fruit (such as oranges, lemons, limes, and berries)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the red wine, orange juice, simple syrup, and brandy. Stir gently to mix all the ingredients together.
  2. Add the diced mixed fresh fruit into the sangria mixture. Stir to ensure the fruit is well coated in the liquid.
  3. Add the tablespoon of lemon juice to brighten up the flavors and give everything a good stir.
  4. Pour the sangria mixture into a shallow baking dish (a metal dish works best).
  5. Place the baking dish in the freezer and allow it to freeze for about 1 hour.
  6. After an hour, take the dish out of the freezer and use a fork to scrape the mixture, breaking up any ice crystals that have formed.
  7. Return the dish to the freezer and repeat the scraping process every 30 minutes for about 3-4 hours, or until the granita is fully frozen and fluffy.
  8. Fluff the granita one last time with a fork before serving.
  9. Scoop the granita into chilled dessert glasses or bowls, layering with extra diced fruit if desired.
  10. Garnish each serving with fresh mint leaves.
  11. Optionally, drizzle a little extra simple syrup or a splash of wine over the top before serving.
