  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4-6 servings 1x

Description

Crispy, flavorful Parmesan Roasted Broccoli – a quick and easy side dish that’s sure to become a family favorite!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large head of broccoli, cut into florets
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, finely grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare Broccoli: Wash and thoroughly dry the broccoli florets. Cut into uniform florets.
  3. Make Parmesan Coating: In a large bowl, combine olive oil, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes (if using). Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Coat Broccoli: Toss the broccoli florets with the Parmesan mixture, ensuring every floret is evenly coated.
  5. Roast: Spread the broccoli florets in a single layer on a baking sheet.
  6. Cook: Roast for 15-20 minutes, or until the broccoli is tender-crisp and the Parmesan cheese is golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway through. If the cheese starts to brown too quickly, lower the oven temperature to 375°F (190°C) for the last few minutes.
  7. Serve: Remove from oven, let cool slightly. Squeeze lemon juice over the broccoli (optional). Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Drying is Key: Ensure broccoli is completely dry before roasting to achieve a crispy texture.
  • Don’t Overcrowd: Spread broccoli in a single layer on the baking sheet for even roasting.
  • Fresh Parmesan: Use freshly grated Parmesan cheese for best melting and crisping.
  • Adjust Seasoning: Customize the seasoning to your taste preferences.
  • Variations:
    • Lemon Parmesan: Add lemon zest to the Parmesan mixture.
    • Spicy: Add more red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper.
    • Garlic: Add more minced garlic.
    • Balsamic: Drizzle with balsamic glaze before serving.
    • Everything Bagel: Sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning before roasting.
  • Make Ahead: Prepare the broccoli and Parmesan mixture ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator until you’re ready to roast it. Just add a few minutes to the cooking time.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
