  • Author: Dottie
  • Total Time: 57 minutes
  • Yield: 12-15 cookies 1x

Description

These Matcha White Chocolate Chip Cookies blend the earthy taste of matcha with sweet white chocolate for a chewy, vibrant treat. Perfect for impressing guests or enjoying with tea, they offer a unique twist on a classic cookie.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons matcha green tea powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (like macadamia or walnuts, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, matcha powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar using an electric mixer on medium speed for 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, mixing until fully incorporated.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture in three parts, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  6. If desired, fold in the white chocolate chips and/or chopped nuts.
  7. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the dough for about 30 minutes.
  8. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  9. Scoop out portions of the dough and roll them into balls, placing them about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet. Slightly flatten the tops for even baking.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers may look underbaked but will continue to cook on the baking sheet.
  11. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  12. Store cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
  13. Enjoy with a cup of green tea or a glass of milk. For an extra touch, drizzle melted white chocolate over the cooled cookies.

Notes

  • Chilling the dough is essential for preventing excessive spreading during baking.
  • Feel free to customize the mix-ins based on your preferences.
