Honey Sriracha Shrimp Dish: A Spicy and Sweet Seafood Delight

  • Author: Dottie
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

This Honey Sriracha Shrimp features a perfect balance of sweet and spicy flavors, with shrimp marinated in a zesty sauce and sautéed to perfection. It’s a quick and easy dish ideal for weeknight dinners or as a crowd-pleasing appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup Sriracha sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, combine honey, Sriracha sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, black pepper, and salt. Whisk until smooth and well blended.
  2. Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the marinade, ensuring they are evenly coated. Cover with plastic wrap or transfer to a resealable plastic bag. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for enhanced flavor.
  3. While the shrimp is marinating, gather your cooking tools: a large skillet or wok, spatula or tongs, and a serving platter. Prepare garnishes by slicing green onions and measuring sesame seeds.
  4. Heat olive oil in the skillet over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking.
  5. Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet, sautéing for about 30 seconds while stirring constantly to prevent burning.
  6. Add the marinated shrimp to the skillet, including all the marinade. Spread the shrimp in a single layer for even cooking.
  7. Cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes on one side without stirring to develop a nice sear. Flip the shrimp and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until pink and opaque.
  8. Remove the skillet from heat. If desired, let the sauce simmer for an extra minute for thickness.
  9. Transfer the cooked shrimp to a serving platter, drizzling any remaining sauce over them.
  10. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve over steamed rice or quinoa if desired, and offer extra Sriracha on the side for those who like it spicy.

Notes

  • For a fun twist, serve the shrimp in lettuce wraps with extra garnishes.
  • This dish pairs well with steamed broccoli or a fresh cucumber salad to balance the heat.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
