Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup Sriracha sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a medium-sized bowl, combine honey, Sriracha sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, black pepper, and salt. Whisk until smooth and well blended.
- Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the marinade, ensuring they are evenly coated. Cover with plastic wrap or transfer to a resealable plastic bag. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for enhanced flavor.
- While the shrimp is marinating, gather your cooking tools: a large skillet or wok, spatula or tongs, and a serving platter. Prepare garnishes by slicing green onions and measuring sesame seeds.
- Heat olive oil in the skillet over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking.
- Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet, sautéing for about 30 seconds while stirring constantly to prevent burning.
- Add the marinated shrimp to the skillet, including all the marinade. Spread the shrimp in a single layer for even cooking.
- Cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes on one side without stirring to develop a nice sear. Flip the shrimp and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until pink and opaque.
- Remove the skillet from heat. If desired, let the sauce simmer for an extra minute for thickness.
- Transfer the cooked shrimp to a serving platter, drizzling any remaining sauce over them.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve over steamed rice or quinoa if desired, and offer extra Sriracha on the side for those who like it spicy.
Notes
- For a fun twist, serve the shrimp in lettuce wraps with extra garnishes.
- This dish pairs well with steamed broccoli or a fresh cucumber salad to balance the heat.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
