  • Author: Dottie
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

Enjoy the warm, comforting flavors of fall with this homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte. Made with creamy almond milk, pumpkin puree, and a touch of maple syrup, this healthier version is perfect for chilly mornings or a sweet afternoon treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any milk of your choice)
  • 1/2 cup brewed coffee (strong)
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin puree (canned or fresh)
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
  • Extra pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the pumpkin puree, maple syrup, pumpkin pie spice, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using). Stir well to combine all the ingredients into a smooth mixture.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat. Gradually add the almond milk while continuously stirring to incorporate the pumpkin mixture into the milk without lumps.
  3. Continue to heat the mixture until it is warm but not boiling, achieving a nice steaming temperature to blend the flavors.
  4. Once warm, remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. While the pumpkin mixture is heating, brew your coffee using a strong method (French press, drip coffee maker, or espresso machine).
  6. For a coffee maker, use about 2 tablespoons of coffee grounds for every 6 ounces of water for a robust flavor.
  7. Set the brewed coffee aside.
  8. In a large mug, pour in the brewed coffee, adjusting the amount based on your desired strength.
  9. Carefully pour the warm pumpkin spice mixture over the coffee, using a spoon to hold back the foam if desired.
  10. Stir gently to combine.
  11. If you want a frothy texture, froth the almond milk before adding it to the coffee using a milk frother, French press, or whisk.
  12. For a milk frother, follow the manufacturer’s instructions. For a French press, pump the plunger up and down until frothy. For a whisk, vigorously whisk until frothy.
  13. Add the frothed milk on top of the combined coffee and pumpkin mixture.
  14. Optionally, add a dollop of whipped cream for indulgence.
  15. Sprinkle extra pumpkin pie spice or ground cinnamon on top for garnish.
  16. Serve immediately while warm, perfect for cozy mornings or as an afternoon pick-me-up.
  17. Keep the pumpkin spice mixture warm on the stove if making multiple servings, brewing fresh coffee as needed.
  18. Pairs wonderfully with a slice of pumpkin bread.

Notes

  • Adjust the sweetness of the latte by varying the amount of maple syrup.
  • For a dairy-free option, stick with almond milk or any plant-based milk of your choice.
