  • Author: Dottie
  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

This Broccoli Cheddar Quiche features a delightful combination of fresh broccoli, creamy cheddar cheese, and fluffy eggs, all baked to a golden finish. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dinner, it’s a versatile dish that can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh broccoli florets, chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk (whole or 2% works best)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a bit of heat)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter (for sautéing)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for extra flavor)

Instructions

  1. Wash the broccoli thoroughly under cold water. Chop into small florets (about 1-inch pieces).
  2. In a medium pot, bring about 2 cups of water to a boil. Add the chopped broccoli and blanch for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Transfer the broccoli to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Drain and set aside.
  4. In a skillet, heat olive oil or butter over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté for 5-7 minutes until translucent and slightly golden.
  5. Sprinkle in the garlic powder during the last minute of cooking.
  6. In a large mixing bowl, crack the eggs and whisk until well combined and frothy.
  7. Gradually pour in the milk while whisking. Add salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using) and whisk again.
  8. Fold in the sautéed onions and blanched broccoli into the egg mixture gently.
  9. Add the shredded cheddar cheese and grated Parmesan cheese (if using) and fold until well combined.
  10. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish or quiche pan.
  11. Pour the broccoli and egg mixture into the prepared dish and spread it out evenly.
  12. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the edges are set and the center is slightly jiggly. Broil for an additional 2-3 minutes for a golden top.
  13. Let the quiche cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm, at room temperature, or cold. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Reheat in the microwave or oven.
  • For longer storage, freeze individual slices wrapped tightly in plastic wrap and place in a freezer-safe bag for up to 2 months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight before reheating.
