Enjoy a delicious twist on classic pizza with this Crispy Pepperoni Pizza Panini, featuring layers of gooey mozzarella, savory pepperoni, and zesty marinara sauce, all grilled between crusty sourdough bread for the ultimate comfort food experience. Perfect for a quick meal or snack!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices of sourdough bread
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1/4 cup marinara sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Gather all your ingredients to ensure a smooth cooking process.
  2. If not pre-sliced, cut the sourdough bread into thick slices (about 1 inch).
  3. Measure out 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese and 1/2 cup of sliced pepperoni.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Spread 2 tablespoons of marinara sauce on one side of two slices of sourdough bread.
  6. Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella cheese over the marinara sauce on both slices.
  7. Layer the sliced pepperoni on top of the cheese, then sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over the pepperoni.
  8. Top with the other two slices of sourdough bread, sauce side down.
  9. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  10. Place one assembled panini in the skillet and press down gently with a spatula. Cook for 3-4 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  11. Carefully flip the panini and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the other side is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Adjust heat if necessary.
  12. Remove the first panini and repeat the grilling process with the second panini.
  13. Let the paninis cool for a minute before slicing them in half diagonally.
  14. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired and serve with extra marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
