- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Rinse the country-style ribs under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
- In a large bowl, combine garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper (if using).
- Rub the spice mixture all over the ribs, ensuring they are evenly coated.
- Let the ribs sit for about 30 minutes at room temperature to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the seasoned ribs in batches for about 3-4 minutes on each side until browned.
- Transfer the seared ribs to the slow cooker and sprinkle any leftover spice mix over them.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar.
- Pour the sauce mixture over the ribs in the slow cooker, ensuring they are well coated.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours until tender.
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- After searing the ribs, place them in a large baking dish or roasting pan.
- Mix barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar in a bowl.
- Pour the sauce over the ribs, ensuring they are well coated.
- Cover tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 2.5 to 3 hours until tender.
- Preheat your grill to medium heat.
- After searing the ribs, place them on the grill using indirect heat.
- Brush the ribs with the barbecue sauce mixture, reserving some for later.
- Close the grill lid and cook for about 1.5 to 2 hours, turning occasionally and basting with reserved sauce until tender and charred.
- Once cooked, serve the ribs hot, garnished with fresh chopped parsley.
Notes
- Adjust the cayenne pepper according to your heat preference.
- For a homemade barbecue sauce, consider adding honey or mustard for extra flavor.
