  • Author: Dottie
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

Enjoy a refreshing Clayton’s Margarita, a delightful mix of tequila, fresh lime juice, and orange liqueur, with a touch of sweetness. Perfect for sunny days or relaxing evenings, this classic cocktail is sure to impress at any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz tequila (preferably 100% agave)
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz orange liqueur (like Cointreau or Triple Sec)
  • 1/2 oz agave syrup (optional, for sweetness)
  • Salt (for rimming the glass)
  • Lime wedge (for garnish)
  • Ice (for shaking and serving)

Instructions

  1. Start by preparing your glass. A classic margarita glass works best, but any glass will do.
  2. Take a lime wedge and run it around the rim of the glass to help the salt stick.
  3. Pour some salt onto a small plate.
  4. Gently dip the rim of the glass into the salt, twisting it slightly for an even coating. Set aside to let the salt adhere.
  5. Grab a cocktail shaker (or a mason jar with a lid).
  6. Fill the shaker with ice, about halfway.
  7. Pour in 2 oz of tequila.
  8. Add 1 oz of fresh lime juice (freshly squeezed is best).
  9. Add 1 oz of orange liqueur.
  10. If desired, add 1/2 oz of agave syrup for sweetness.
  11. Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds to mix and chill the ingredients.
  12. Strain the cocktail into your prepared glass. For a margarita on the rocks, fill the glass with ice before pouring.
  13. For a straight-up margarita, pour the mixture into the glass without ice.
  14. Garnish with a lime wedge on the rim of the glass.
  15. Admire your creation and enjoy the vibrant color and fresh lime aroma.
  16. Sip slowly and enjoy the refreshing taste of your homemade Clayton’s Margarita.

Notes

  • Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor.
  • Experiment with different types of tequila for unique flavors.
  • For flavored margaritas, muddle fresh fruit like strawberries or mango in the shaker before adding other ingredients.
  • For a frozen margarita, blend the ingredients with ice instead of shaking.
