Description
Enjoy a delicious treat with these chocolate-covered bananas, featuring sweet banana pieces coated in rich chocolate. Easy to prepare and customizable with various toppings, they make a fun and satisfying snack or dessert for all ages!
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 ripe bananas
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for smoother chocolate)
- 1/2 cup crushed nuts (e.g., almonds, walnuts, or peanuts)
- 1/2 cup shredded coconut (optional)
- 1/4 cup sprinkles (optional)
- Parchment paper (for cooling)
Instructions
- Peel the bananas and cut them into bite-sized pieces (about 1 inch thick or halved lengthwise). Place them on a plate or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and coconut oil (if using). Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth (about 1 to 2 minutes).
- Using a fork or toothpick, dip each banana piece into the melted chocolate, ensuring an even coat. Allow excess chocolate to drip off and place the coated banana back on the parchment-lined plate. Repeat for all pieces.
- While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle crushed nuts, shredded coconut, or sprinkles on top of each banana piece.
- Place the baking sheet in the freezer for about 30 minutes to allow the chocolate to set. If the chocolate is still soft, leave them in the freezer for an additional 10-15 minutes.
- Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the freezer for up to a month, separating layers with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
Notes
- Get creative with toppings! Consider crushed cookies, mini chocolate chips, or a drizzle of white chocolate.
- For a richer flavor, add a layer of peanut butter or almond butter before dipping in chocolate.
- For a healthier option, use dark chocolate or yogurt-covered coating instead.
