  • Author: Dottie
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 24 brownies 1x

Description

Enjoy these chewy toffee brownies, featuring a rich chocolate base and crunchy toffee bits. Fudgy and easy to prepare, they make a perfect dessert for any gathering!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup toffee bits (such as Heath Bar bits)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional, walnuts or pecans recommended)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat, stirring occasionally. Once melted, remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar using a whisk.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips, toffee bits, and nuts (if using).
  8. Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  9. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. Check for doneness at the 25-minute mark; a toothpick inserted should come out with a few moist crumbs.
  11. Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before cutting.
  12. Cut into squares and serve warm, optionally topped with vanilla ice cream and drizzled with chocolate or caramel sauce.
  13. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.

Notes

  • Use high-quality cocoa powder and chocolate chips for the best flavor.
  • Be careful not to overbake; the brownies will continue to cook slightly after being removed from the oven.
  • For cleaner edges, let the brownies cool completely before cutting, though warm brownies are equally delicious!
