Carrot Celery Juice: Benefits, Recipe, and Nutritional Information

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 1-2 servings 1x

Description

A refreshing and healthy juice made with carrots, celery, and a hint of ginger and lemon. Packed with vitamins and antioxidants, this juice is a great way to start your day or enjoy a nutritious boost.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large carrots, peeled and roughly chopped
  • 4 celery stalks, washed and roughly chopped
  • 1/2 inch ginger root, peeled
  • 1/2 lemon, peeled (optional, for extra zing)
  • 1/4 cup water (optional, to adjust consistency)
  • Pinch of turmeric powder (optional, for added health benefits and color)
  • Pinch of black pepper (optional, to enhance turmeric absorption)
  • Ice cubes (optional, for serving chilled)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Vegetables: Thoroughly wash the carrots and celery. Chop the carrots and celery into pieces that will easily fit into your juicer’s feed tube.
  2. Prepare the Ginger and Lemon (if using): Peel the ginger root. If you’re using lemon, peel it as well, removing as much of the white pith as possible.
  3. Set Up Your Juicer: Make sure your juicer is clean and properly assembled. Have a container ready to catch the juice and another for the pulp.
  4. Start Juicing: Begin by feeding the carrots into the juicer at a steady pace.
  5. Add the Celery: Next, add the celery stalks. You might need to alternate between carrots and celery to ensure smooth juicing.
  6. Incorporate Ginger and Lemon (if using): Add the ginger and lemon (if using) to the juicer.
  7. Adjust Consistency (if needed): If the juice is too thick, add a little water (1/4 cup or less) to the juicer while it’s running.
  8. Process Remaining Ingredients: Continue feeding the carrots, celery, ginger, and lemon (if using) into the juicer until everything is processed.
  9. Strain (Optional): If you prefer a smoother juice, you can strain it through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth.
  10. Add Turmeric and Black Pepper (if using): If you’re using turmeric powder, add a pinch to the juice. Remember to also add a pinch of black pepper.
  11. Stir Well: Thoroughly stir the juice to ensure the turmeric and black pepper are evenly distributed.
  12. Serve Immediately: Carrot celery juice is best enjoyed fresh.
  13. Add Ice (Optional): If you prefer your juice chilled, add a few ice cubes to the glass before serving.
  14. Garnish (Optional): You can garnish the juice with a slice of carrot, celery stalk, or lemon wedge.
  15. Storage (if necessary): If you can’t drink the juice immediately, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It’s best to consume it within 24 hours.

Notes

  • Choose organic produce whenever possible.
  • Adjust the ratios of carrots and celery to suit your taste preferences.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables such as spinach, kale, cucumber, or beets.
  • For a sweeter juice, you can add a small amount of fruit, such as apple or orange.
  • Experiment with different spices, such as cayenne pepper or cinnamon.
  • If you find the juice too bitter, you can add a small amount of natural sweetener, such as honey or maple syrup.
  • A masticating juicer is generally considered to be better than a centrifugal juicer.
  • Clean your juicer immediately after use.
  • Don’t throw away the pulp! You can use it in other recipes or add it to your compost pile.
  • Pay attention to how your body responds to the juice.
