Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Optional: lime wedges (for serving)
Instructions
- Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
- Add the shrimp to the bowl with the spice mix. Drizzle with olive oil and lemon juice, then toss until evenly coated.
- Let the shrimp marinate for at least 15 minutes (up to 1 hour in the refrigerator).
- Heat a large cast-iron skillet or heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
- Once the skillet is hot, add the marinated shrimp in a single layer, avoiding overcrowding.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until golden brown, then flip and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until opaque and charred.
- Remove the shrimp from the skillet and transfer to a plate, covering with aluminum foil to keep warm.
- Serve the shrimp over rice, quinoa, or a fresh salad, garnished with chopped parsley and lime wedges if desired.
Notes
- Adjust the cayenne pepper based on your heat preference.
- For a refreshing contrast, serve with cilantro lime rice or a fresh salad.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
