Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Optional: lime wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Add the shrimp to the bowl with the spice mix. Drizzle with olive oil and lemon juice, then toss until evenly coated.
  4. Let the shrimp marinate for at least 15 minutes (up to 1 hour in the refrigerator).
  5. Heat a large cast-iron skillet or heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
  6. Once the skillet is hot, add the marinated shrimp in a single layer, avoiding overcrowding.
  7. Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until golden brown, then flip and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until opaque and charred.
  8. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and transfer to a plate, covering with aluminum foil to keep warm.
  9. Serve the shrimp over rice, quinoa, or a fresh salad, garnished with chopped parsley and lime wedges if desired.

Notes

  • Adjust the cayenne pepper based on your heat preference.
  • For a refreshing contrast, serve with cilantro lime rice or a fresh salad.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
