Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz. linguine or spaghetti pasta
  • 1 lb. shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tbsp sriracha (optional, for extra heat)
  • 2 tbsp green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the linguine or spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente (about 8-10 minutes). Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  2. Drain the pasta in a colander and rinse under cold water to stop the cooking process. Set aside.
  3. In a medium bowl, pour buttermilk over the shrimp, ensuring they are well-coated. Let marinate for 15-20 minutes.
  4. In another bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
  5. Remove shrimp from buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge in the flour mixture, ensuring full coverage. Shake off excess flour and set aside.
  6. In a large skillet, pour enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom (about 1/4 inch deep). Heat over medium-high until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  7. Add coated shrimp in batches to the hot oil, frying for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate.
  8. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, and sriracha (if using) until well combined.
  9. In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked pasta and fried shrimp. Gently toss to distribute shrimp evenly.
  10. Drizzle Bang Bang sauce over the pasta and shrimp mixture. Toss until well coated.
  11. Transfer to a serving dish and sprinkle with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
  12. Enjoy warm, optionally with lime wedges on the side.
